Seishun Gakuen tennis club regulars

Seigaku's popularity is largely credited to Echizen Nanjiroh, the father of the protagonist, Echizen Ryoma. Nicknamed The Samurai because of his invincible skills, Echizen Nanjiroh became one of the few Japanese men to make it into the pro-tennis world.
Although acknowledged as one of the stronger teams when it comes to tennis, Seigaku has never made it to the Nationals after Nanjiroh left. However, with the emergence of another note-worthy player, Tezuka Kunimitsu, a spot at the Nationals had again become attainable. Under the supervision of Ryuuzaki Sumire, Tezuka-buchou and the other Seigaku regulars strive once again to aim for the much-coveted spot in the All-Japan National tounament.

The regulars
...the strong and the unbeaten

Note: For information on Kaidoh, go here. :) And please do not take the striked-out parts too seriously. They're just there because it's my lame attempt to make this part of the site not too boring, i.e. to be funny. YAYZ at my failed attempt at humor~ XD

Echizen Ryoma
Ryoma is the protagonist of the series. Don't be fooled by his apparent lack of height; he makes up for it with his arrogance and snarky remarks. This freshman is almost impossibly cocky, but he can back it up since he also happens to be one of the most talented tennis players in Japan. Born and raised in America, Ryoma competed in the American Junior Tennis tournaments (he has four champion titles under his belt) before Nanjiroh sent him to Seigaku for his middle school education. Since Ryoma has so many special techniques, I won't bother listing them here, lolz~ XD Instead, you can go to this page on Wikipedia for a full list of his moves.
Although Ryoma has a sharp mouth and a haughty attitude on-court, apparently he is rather clueless when it comes to little pre-teen crushes and stuff. He also likes taking naps and has a rather aloof attitude, but somehow that doesn't prevent the other regulars from growing fond of him. And in the slash-oriented part of my brain, I strongly hold that EVERYONE is trying to hit on Ryoma, which is no surprise because, I mean, HECK. JUST LOOK AT HIM. I swear, Everyone/Ryoma is a canon pairing.

Tezuka Kunimitsu
Tezuka is Seigaku's captain (buchou) and the strongest member of the team. He's very strict with rules, and his usual punishment for those who break them would be a number of laps around the court. He also has a rather distant personality surrounding him at first, but it still doesn't prevent the regulars from forging a friendship with him. Tezuka is Seigaku's idol; everyone respects and admires him for his abilities, both as a player and as a captain. Of course, the third year regular would never have gathered this much admiration if it weren't for his strong will and dedication to bring his team to new heights.
Everyone, both from Seigaku and other schools, wants to play a match against Tezuka because he's considered a national-level player. And it's no surprise, too, that with Tezuka's moves such as the Zero-shiki drop shot and the ever-popular TEZUKA-ZOOOOONE (XD).Apparently, he also has a skill called Hyaku ren Jitoku no Kiwami, which he sealed off because of his arm injury. So apparently, next to Ryoma, Tezuka is the other character most players are hitting on. Ooh, the passion and excitement of young, teenage boi!luff...*sighs*

Fuji Syuusuke
Fuji is in his third year and is dubbed as Seigaku's tensai (genius/prodigy). He's a counter-puncher, and basically has three almost unreturnable counters for his disposal: the Tsubame Gaeshi (Swallow Return), Higuma Otoshi (Bear Drop), and Hakugei (White Whale). These are collectively known as the Triple Counter. In the Nationals arc he develops a fourth one, the Kageru Zutsumi (Dragonfly Illusion). Aside from his countes, he also has a disappearing serve.
Behind Fuji's smile is an extremely sadistic person. XD Apparently, Fuji likes to see people suffer (O_o) and plays around with his opponents before finishing them off. Generally, he doesn't get into fights and is nice to everyone, but gets easily angered when his family or friends are hurt. He's someone who will go out for revenge, and doesn't forgive easily. Fuji is also so seme he pwns you.

Oishi Syuichirou
Oishi is Seigaku's fukubuchou (vice-captain) and Seigaku's "mom". XD He worries about the welfare of the team often, including the player's emotional state and such. He's very optimistic and determined, and is also rather mushy (gathering Seigaku regulars to watch the sunrise, anyone? XD). He also tries his best to be a good fukubuchou, and even if it seems the regulars don't listen to him, they really do respect him as one. He's also president of his class and is basically a nice, considerate, well-rounded guy; the perfect boy to bring home to your mom. :D His moves are the Moon Volley (one of my favorites in Tenipuri!) and Oishi Territory.
He plays doubles with Kikumaru Eiji, and together they are called the Golden Pair. This is because their synchronization elevated them to a national-level status. This is mostly due to the fact that they are SO married and have eyes only for each other.

Kikumaru Eiji
Kikumaru is the hyper third year who seems to have an unlimited supply of the "whee~!" factor (for lack of a better term, lolz), since he's always seen jumping around and hugging everyone. XD He's just a big ball of energy, always hyper and bouncy, and his personality also shows in his play. Unfortunately, because of the moves in his acrobatic tennis, he also quickly uses up his stamina, which is his playing style's biggest flaw. Among his moves are the Kikumaru Beam, Kikumaru Smash, and Seal Step. He also has a good eye for moving things, similar to Echizen Ryoma.
He's Oishi's doubles partner; they've been playing together since they were first years. Kikumaru can lose his concentration and get angry easily when he's figured out by an opponent, and it seems Oishi is the only one who can get him to pull himself together because their love is so true and boundless and stuff.

Momoshiro Takeshi
Momoshiro is a second-year and what his teammates have dubbed as "Seigaku's rascal". He likes being liked, basically, and is nice to everyone on the team, save for a particular bandana-wearing guy who he considers his rival and calls "mamushi" just to piss said rival off. XD Momo-chan, as he insists everyone call him, is cheerful and friendly, and interacts with everyone, especially his kouhai's. He eats a lot (and I mean a LOT), oftentimes with Ryoma because they're canon, and appears to be extremely lazy, but he does work hard to improve his tennis, too.
Momo-chan, on court, is an agressive baseliner. His specialties are smashes, namely the Dunk Smash and Super Momoshiro Special. He also has the Jack Knife at his disposal. Aside from that, he can read the opponent's movement and turn the game in his favor using information from that, although Inui once mentioned Momo himself isn't aware he possessed such a useful ability.

Inui Sadaharu
"Ii data" is probably Inui's tagline. XD Also in his third year, Inui is often seen gathering data on opponents and on his fellow teammates and writing them down on his green notebook. He's also rather sadistic, as he loves making his teammates drink his rather strange, dangerous-looking "juices" when they commit an error. On-court, he calculates the percentage an opponent will make a certain move based on his data, and initially he used to rely entirely on this. His abilities include the Super-sonic Serve, and eventually the Waterfall (Nationals arc).
Although it seems Inui is a rather unapproachable character, he does have ties with a few people. One of them is his childhood doubles partner, Yanagi Renji, and the other one his kouhai, Kaidoh. Inui is the one who helped Kaidoh perfect his Boomerang Snake through training with him and asking him to be his doubles partner so Kaidoh can practice the Boomerang on-court, in an actual match but we all know his real intention is to see up-close how Kaidoh's shorts ride up his legs (for data? XD).

Kawamura Takashi
LOLZ this is one of the characters who doesn't fail to crack me up. XD Off-court, and without the racket, Taka-san is a mild-mannered, polite man, who loves making sushi and who couldn't hurt a fly. He's nice to everyone and dislikes fighting. However, upon holding his racket, Kawamura's personality turns a complete 180 degrees and he becomes a loud, trash-talking, agressive player (who also happens to speak English phrases often). This is what is called his "burning mode". He has powerful attacks such as the Hadokyuu and Dash Hadokyuu, and his power is almost unstoppable. However, in burning mode, he also tends to do things rashly, which sometimes results in him sustaining injuries.
Taka-san's dream is to become Japan's number one sushi chef. He plans on retiring from tennis after middle school to concentrate on sushi training, which is why he is determined to become the best power player before he gives up tennis. He's probably the only straight player, too. Probably. Though we've all seen him give Fuji "the glance" sometimes.
