Why the mamushi?
...displaying obsession with dorkish pride~ XD

This is actually what I wrote in my FL adoption application to Tamisa. I wrote in in notepad before pasting it to my email, and I'm glad I did it. That means I get more content at my site, yay! XD
Warning: A bit dork-ish and absolutely fangirl-y. XD

I admit Kaidoh didn't catch my attention THAT much at first (although it IS really hilarious whenever the non-regulars got scared of him because of his expression XD), but then again, most characters I come to love so dearly are characters I don't notice at first. I guess it's because characters need to grow on me first before I come to love them so much.

And that's what Kaidoh is. He's this type of character I grew to love more and more with each passing episode. When his character is slowly revealed in the series, I found myself going "aww" and "how cute!". Who knew that despite his tough exterior, he'd be about the sweetest guy in the whole Seigaku team? :D I liked that about him; I guess I'm just really attracted to guys who are all soft on the inside. XD I like it that he's not so one-dimensional and that there's this hidden side to him, because that's what, I think, make people relate to and sympathize with him. And he makes people laugh! He's oftentimes the butt of all jokes because of his personality, I think, and that makes him even more endearing, at least to me. XD I love it when characters make me laugh (whether they do it intentionally or not), so I was highly amused with Kaidoh's antics (or the antics of the people around him that get him to react in such a hilarious manner). XD Like the episode with the cursed tennis racket, wherein he ran out of the classroom in fear, or when he kept on getting hit or run over by people, or that time he got amnesia and acted like a cat. XD I like it that they don't take his character too seriously; that would ruin the fun of Tenipuri! XD And he loves animals! *adore, adore* I can especially relate to him with that becasue I LOVE animals too, and therefore I love guys who love animals! XD It emphasizes Kaidoh's soft, caring side even more. :)

Additionally, I greatly admire Kaidoh's determination. The way he puts his heart into everything he does, whether it be training or a match, is definitely something that inspires me a lot. His willpower is so strong, I can't help but respect him so much. After a match, whether he won or lost, I can definitely say he poured everything he had into it. He's been very inspiring to me, even if he's just a fictional character, and I think that's what's REALLY amazing about him. The way he could make people like me aim for higher goals upon seeing his struggles, the way he never gives up makes ME never give up; I think that's the basis of strong characterization. Such in a way that he becomes REAL, even if we know he's fictional.

I also like his moves, and how they fit well with his personality. XD Quite honestly the Snake (and other variations) is one of the moves I like the best (another is the Moon Volley, just to share XD) in the PoT animanga. It's flashy (in my opinion) and it works! I really do look forward to Kaidoh using that move again more than the other moves of the other characters. XD I can't quite put a finger on why it appeals a lot to me, but it's a highly entertaining and useful move and it makes his opponents go "WTF", so I love it so much. XD

Great characters are those that get to people; characters that are remembered because they are unique. Kaidoh, I think, IS definitely unique, from the hissing sounds he makes to his inspiring determination, and how, despite having a serious personality, he could be so unintentionally hilarious! :D Kaidoh is one of my favorite characters in Tenipuri, and even in animanga. :D He's just THAT awesome. XD
